‘We didn't forge an ITC for Clottey’, says Ex-Kotoko management member

Former player and Management member of Kotoko, Mr. George Kennedy has explained what went into the signing of Emmanuel Clottey four years ago

The transfer which made FIFA to charge Kotoko and forced them to pay $240000 saw Clottey blaming Kotoko management then for not doing diligence hence the troubles

But a key member of the management, George says that’s was not the case

“Emmanuel Clottey had problems in his stint with Esperance and during his loan spell in Dubai.” George told FOX Fm

Clottey appealed to Alhaji Lamin that he had return home (Ghana) after his club (Esperance) failed to give him a return ticket. He was out of the four mandatory foreign players to be registered by the club and thus surplus to requirement. He was not receiving his salaries from his parent club (Esperance) nor from the club he was playing on loan in Dubai. Based on that, he discussed with Alhaji Lamin he had the chance to quit the club (Esperance). Alhaji Lamin brought Clottey to Kumasi afterwards."

"I told the management I knew Clottey based on his playing days at Berekum Chelsea but cannot say much about him on his then current form. I told him to find time to train with the team but he played a lackadaisical attitude and refused to train. He later informed us he was injured. Upon that, I told the management we should search through his documents."

"Release letters are not given to individual players but from a club to a different club. We decided to search through his documents after he told us he was free since he had not heard from Esperance. We wrote to Esperance through the GFA but didn't receive any response from them. We again wrote a reminder to FIFA. After the second letter to FIFA, we got a reply from the World Football Governing Body through the Ghana Football Association (GFA) that if we receive no response from Esperance in 15days, the GFA should issue Kotoko a temporal ITC for the registration of the player. We didn't forge an ITC for Clottey. We followed the due process to register Clottey.
