Ghana winger Christian Atsu has retired from international football according to Ghanasoccernet.
Atsu 28 has seen his club career in the downhill after he sustained an injury in 2019 Africa cup of nations, the Newcastle forward wants to get his club career back on track hence his decision to quit the Black Stars.
Reports say Atsu has inform Black stars head coach C.K Akonnor his decision to take himself out of possible national team call-up and the gaffer has also accepted it with no qualms whatsoever.
Reports also say, Atsu has contemplated on retiring from the national team earlier but waited for while for some reasons but was fully convinced after he was completely left out of Coach CK Akonnor maiden Black stars call-up for the AFCON 2021 double header against Sudan.
Former Chelsea winger will hope his retirement from the national side will help him discover his lost form and stage a tough battle against his Newcastle playing mate Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin over the wide position in the team.
