Black stars striker Asamoah Gyan breaks his silence on that ‘famous’ penalty missed against Uruguay in 2010 World Cup after Luis Suarez punched the ball off the goal line.
The former Sunderland Star had the whole of Africa on his shoulders as converting that last minute penalty would’ve meant that Ghana becomes the first Africa country to play in the World Cup semifinals but that didn’t happen as Gyan hit the ball at the cross bar.
Ghana lost the match through penalties, although Gyan redeemed himself by scoring from the spot, but missed in regulation time is what became the subject of discussion and still hurt many Ghanaians but the player has disclosed that it’s not only Ghanaians who are still hurt by that missed, as he is also been haunt anytime he is alone he
“Till today, anytime I’m alone, it still haunts me.” Gyan told TV3 Ghana
“Sometimes I feel like the world should go back again so I can redeem myself but I know that is something that will haunt me for the rest of my life.
“I accept that because there is nothing I can do about it. I went to save my country but I ended up being the villain, which I accepts because I know how people feel”, he stated.”
