President for Ghana Olympics Committee Ben Nunoo Mensah has cleared the air over the uncertainties around the Olympic games in Tokyo which was slated to take place on 24th July 2020
Speaking to Katey Caesae on Atinka Tv, Mr Nunuu Mensah said
“If international Olympic committee insists on going ahead with Olympic Games in this condition we will have no option than to pull out because we are independent GOC, we cant expose our athletes to the Coronavirus
“But the President of the International Olympic committee has indicated that they're monitoring the situation, they will take a decision as and when its needed"
“Initially they said we should monitor the situation for a while because we have four months ahead of us, and now they said we should monitor the situation for the next month if things does not change we will postpone it.
“But when I had personal engagement with the President of IOC, I raised concern that even if the situation becomes better in Japan but worse in other parts of the world like Europe and America don’t you think we should still postpone the Olympics?
He agreed with me but instead we should monitor the situation and allow the Task force to advice us on what we should do.”
